California Golden Ale is our first attempt at brewing. It is a lighter in color, but is a very tasty ale based on a recipe supplied by American Home Brewing Supply. We start with selected specialty grains and use 1oz of Fresh Hallertau and 1oz of Fresh Willimate Hops per 5 gallon batch. The beer is put into primary fermentation for 4 days and then placed into a secondary fermenter to clarify the beer for another week. The beer is then bottled and allowed to carbonate for a minimum of two weeks. This beer reaches a full flavor at four-five weeks of age. Slightly yeasty to the taste, this is the favorite of family and friends who are not used to homemade beer. Estimated Alcohol Content is ~ 4.2%
