In the begining the car began as a daily driven 1972 Datsun 510 sedan that needed some TLC.
The interior and glass were removed and then a a stout roll cage was designed and installed at Off Road Innovations of El Cajon, CA.
The car was painted rattle can red by Nismo in his garage and built to hornet class specs for racing at Perris auto speedway in Perris, CA. The car was raced one season at Perris before the hornet class was eliminated from the schedule.
Then Nismo decided that the car would be raced at Barona Speedway in the East County of San Diego. The car buliding process began again so that the car would fit into the Pony stock rules at Barona Speedway.
After many hours or prep work by Nismo, the car was professionally painted at Prestige II autobody in Ramona, CA.
This is a shot of the car one of the first times it was raced at Barona Speedway in 2007.
Nismo Nick races hard at every event. In 2007 he finished all but two races, due to crashes.
This is a shot of the right front tire after impacting the wall in one of the crashes. Notice all the mud packed into the wheel.
The car is once again stripped down to prep it for the 2008 racing season at Barona speedway. Racing takes a lot of time, money, and patience.
The interior is also stripped down each season to check for cracks and chassis fatigue.
The engine has been pulled to clean and inspect the chassis for damage and to prepare for the new season at Barona.
